Markets

Starting point is a high "country skill" in the regions of North Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and South-East Asia, i.e. a good knowledge of local markets and sound contacts in the oil and gas sector, established and consolidated over many years.

Our projects in the business unit for Oil and Gas generally comprise volumes of up to 200 million euros. Last year, for instance, we completed a compressor station and started up operation of the station for the former state-owned company, Petroleum Authority of Thailand. The plant is part of Thailand's 3,000 km-long pipeline network that distributes Thailand´s own gas across the country. At this plant we use three turbo-compressor strands with compressors made by our sister company MAN Turbo. Completed for the most part in 2006 was the construction of an Iranian power plant. In this case we extended the existing 580 megawatt plant with an additional gas turbine power plant block, yielding a performance output of 250 megawatts.

In Iran we also pursue large-scale projects in other areas: we are building several plants there for processing oil and gas, amongst which are two intended for the production of isocyanates, an important intermediate product in the production of plastics. One of the two is about to go into operation, while construction has recently begun on the second. We have developed a project for the production of cyclohexane for a private investor, which is used for the production of synthetic fibres, such as nylon.
